Our Men & Woman in Service

Happy Monday!

I have a quick post to share before I head out in the snow to pick up by girl from school.

My card was inspired by two challenges, MFT Sketch & the January ODBD challenge.

When I read the January ODBD challenge, I thought how PERFECT!  I received two stamp sets from OWH  and they are MFT stamps!  I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with each challenge separately, but together, the inspiration just kept flowing.

I used MFT Blueprint die sets 15 & 18 for the design of my card to fit my take on the sketch.

I added some clear Wink of Stella to the center border of white and the stars.  This seems to break up the 'plainness' of the card.  I wanted the policewoman stamp to be the focus of the card...but it needed a bit of something, and the glimmer did it.  :-)

To finish of the inside, I stamped Thank You from the stamp set (which was part of a larger sentiment...so I just masked off what I didn't need.)   For a bit of fun, I added some of the stars from the die cutting of the front panel.

The kids and I plan on filling out this card expressing our appreciation of the continued service of our local police department.

Red Carpet Studio Challenge #88

Welcome to another challenge at Red Carpet Studio!

Today's challenge is inspired by the movie The Book of Life.

In the Mexican town of San Angel, Manolo (Diego Luna), Maria (Zoë Saldana) and Joaquin (Channing Tatum) have been friends ever since childhood. Although their lives have taken different paths -- Maria was sent to Europe, Joaquin joined the military, and Manolo studied to become a bullfighter -- one thing remains the same: Manolo and Joaquin both want to marry Maria. Little does the trio know that battling husband-and-wife deities have made a high-stakes wager on the love triangle's outcome.

THE CHALLENGE: USE THE MOVIE POSTER ABOVE AS YOUR INSPIRATION
(Please click HERE for our 2015 challenge guidelines)
........................................................................................................................................................

I used the confetti, colors, and the hearts from the poster as my inspiration.

I created a stitched panel with MFT's Blueprints 15 die and Papertrey Ink cardstock.  I stamped it with Versmark using the Peachy Keen Stamp herringbone background stamp.

I used the Simon Says Stamp falling heart stencil and my Copic airbrushing system to create the focal panel.  I created a 4.25 x 5.5 inch panel, but trimmed it down with MFT's Blueprints 15 die.

I cut a heart from the same die set, colored it with Wink of Stella clear glitter brush, and covered that in glossy accents.

I LOVE how this card turned out!

MFT Color Challenge

Happy Friday!

I've been playing around with paper today...and was inspired by the MFT color challenge.

I used MFT's Blueprints 15 to create my focal panel and stitched circles.

I used Papertrey Ink cardstock, Versamark ink, Lawn Fawn stamps, and Doodlebug sequins.

To finish it off, I added some clear Wink of Stella to the monsters.

The inside sentiment from the same Lawn Fawn stamp set (not pictured) was stamped with MFT's Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.

I enjoyed creating this card.  Hope you enjoyed it too.  :-)

Have a Happy Unbirthday

Happy Friday!

It's our first 3-D challenge of the year for Cardz TV.

Our challenge is to create a 3-D Birthday card.

The inspiration for my card came from the Cardz TV This 'n' That stamp set

As soon as I saw the stamp set, I knew I had to use the Mad Hatter Luka from La La Land.

I stamped Luka on Xpress blending card, colored him with Copics, and fussy cut him out.

I cut the base card from Bird's Cards.  I attached Luka with foam tape.

His little teapot is from Miriam's Crafting Supplies.

I cut a ticket/tag from a punch for the sentiment and edged with fluid chalk.
I added a tea bag, also from Miriam's.

Cupcakes and Valentines

Happy Monday!

I have been a bit crafty this weekend, so I wanted to share just one of my creations with you.

I bought some embossing paste a few months back...and have been itching to use it.  And I finally did!   LOVE that stuff.  It is a bit hard for a perfectionist to work with...but I dealt with it.  :-)

I used a Simon Says Stitch rectangle die to cut the base mat out of Papertrey Ink cardstock.

Then I applied the embossing paste over a Simon Says Falling Hearts Stencil.

While the paste dried, I die cut a stitched circle and stamped a cupcake, from the Peachy Keen January 2014 stamp set with My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  I colored the top and plate of the cupcake with Copics.  The cupcake wrapper was paper pieced.

I put some Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen on the heart, then applied some glossy accents.

The sentiment was stamped on parchment vellum.  The card base was made out of the same cardstock the cupcake wrapper was paper pieced from.

It is a double sided piece of cardstock from Bella Blvd.
I think that the patterns are great for this card.

For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of white Papertrey Ink cardstock smaller than the card base, so that the inside paper pattern would show.

I stamped the cupcake again, with Pure Poppy Ink, paper pieced the wrapper, and added glossy accents to the heart, to match the front panel.

The sentiment is from Cardz TV Happy Days Stamp set.  To finish it off, I stamped small heart from the Peachy Keen Stamp set with the same Pure Poppy Ink.

Hope you have enjoyed my creation, as much as I enjoyed creating and sharing it.

Happy Sunday!

It's time for a Red Carpet Studio Challenge.

Just Keep Swimming.....

Happy Thursday!

This is my first post as a member of the Miss Kate Cuttables Design Team.  EEK!!!
But before I show you my project, let's see what today's freebie is......

You can get today's freebie at the store HERE.

Now my creation..............
Isn't the goldfish adorable?

I cut all the pieces of my fish and bowl from Papertrey Ink cardstock.  The rocks and the gleam on the bowl were cut in white (like the bowl) and colored with a Copic Marker to get the color I wanted along with contrast.

I added Wink of Stella (clear brush pen) to the rocks, bowl gleam, and fish.  The fish is put on one thickness of foam tape...just for fun.  For more interest, I added glossy accents to the bubble under the water (as part of the cut), and dew drops from Miriam's Crafting Supply (these are not listed on the site...just ask for them).

I created an inside sentiment in my Silhouettte software.  Also I cut a smaller fish and seaweed and seaweed.

The fish and bowl can be found HERE on the Miss Kate Cuttables site.

Monster Love in Action

Happy Tuesday!!

Today I am sharing with you my Action Wobbles Design Team project.

Currently, I am into creating Valentines...anything red, pink, glittery...

So, of course, my first creation of 2015 contains all of these elements.

I recently purchased the Lawn Fawn's Monster Mash stamp set, and I just cannot stop using it.

I stamped three of the little monsters from the set and die cut them with the coordinating dies.  Then I colored them with Copic Markers.  I highlighted the one-eyed monster with a googly eye.  Isn't he adorable?!?!

Then I put the monsters on a stitched circle die cut.  The little hearts are from the stamp set, and stamped in Hero Arts' Pale Tomato shadow ink.   I added some Wink of Stella clear brush pen to the edge of the one-eyed monster and the hearts.

The circle was put on an Action Wobble.

LOVE it!  <3

     (Wobble in Action)

I added a die cut banner from the MFT Die-namics banner set, and stamped the sentiment from the monster set with My Favorite Things Licorice Black Hybrid ink.

I finished the inside of the card off with another sentiment from the set, the same one-eyed monster stamped in Hero Arts Pastel Green ink, and a bit of the patterned paper.
